Everything announced Oculus’ Gaming Showcase

Oculus teased gamers with some long-awaited updates during its first-ever VR gaming showcase today.

The first ever Oculus gaming showcase was streamed today and despite being a relatively short 25 minute event, they did reveal some exciting new games and updates coming to some major titles.

Fans were treated to some gameplay clips from the upcoming remake of Resident Evil 4 VR exclusively on Quest, as well as updates to the popular Saints and Sinners, The climb and I expect you to die amongst others. A new snowboarding game called Carve Snowboarding from the creators of 1080 Snowboarding was also on show. They are teaming up with Chuhai Labs, and the game is set for release this year.

Star Wars: Tales From the Galaxy’s Edge: Part 2

The first details for the second instalment of this Star Wars saga teased fans. Not much was given away, but we were introduced to a mysterious Ithorian character called Dok-Ondar. Part 1 was released back in November and received positive reviews. This game will still come from developer ILMxLAB, the same team behind the Vader Immortal series. Its still in early production, so, not trailer here.

Resident Evil 4

Fans who were looking forward to seeing their first glimpses of Resident Evil 4 VR weren’t disappointed. For the first time, Resident Evil will be a first-person experience. This Oculus Quest 2 exclusive is scheduled for release “later this year”, though we expect sometime Q3.

Lone Echo II

The long-awaited sequel of this sci-fi epic is scheduled for a Summer 2021 release on Oculus Rift.

Pistol Whip: Smoke & Thunder

Set in the Wild West, the hit VR rhythm shooter, Pistol Whip, is due yet another free update. Developed by Cloudhead Games, this one arrives in summer.

I Expect You To Die 2: The Spy and the Liar

A sequel to this spy themed puzzle game, from Schell Games, will launch on Both Oculus Quest and Oculus Rift platforms in 2021.

The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners Aftershocks

Due for release on May 20, Skydance Interactive’s ‘The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners’ is to receive a massive update. New missions and collectibles will add hours of gameplay to this apocalyptic favourite. Skydance say this will be a free update for existing owners on the Oculus Quest, Oculus Rift and Playstation VR.

After the Fall

From the same team behind Arizona SunshineAfter The Fall hopes to take the VR zombie genre to the next level. After The Fall arrives this summer on Oculus Quest and Oculus Rift headsets with support for cross-play.

Carve Snowboarding

This was the only completely new videogame to be revealed in Oculus’ showcase event. Carve Snowboarding was revealed by Oculus as the first game for VR from the team behind legendary N64 game 1080 Snowboarding. Available on Oculus Quest this summertime.

Warhammer 40,000: Battle Sister

Released back in 2020, Pixel Toys announced that the horde mode was getting a co-op mode for the first time (available as a free update), bringing multiplayer fun to the Warhammer 40,000 series.

The Climb 2

In another big update, Crytek will release the Freestyle Expansion Pack today. Adding six new courses with some new gameplay elements that will really challenge the best climbers. Taking on inspiration from other games such as Beat Saber, it will introduce rhythm based climbing challenges. It will be free to all existing owners of the game and is available now, with more to follow at a date yet to be confirmed.
